About: Benjamin Vincent, creator of Packet Dominance

Packet Dominance is designed and developed by Benjamin Vincent, known by the pseudonym BenjiColors. It is an independent project.
Why this game exists
The Internet rests on very real objects: fiber cables laid under the oceans, points of presence in cities, datacenters that consume energy every hour. The project grew out of a desire to make this machinery visible and to turn it into the material of a strategy game.
The guiding principle can be read in the game's documentation: an economy with no money falling from the sky, where every income has a payer and every expense a beneficiary. The game takes place on a map of 1,000 real cities, in real time (one hour of play lasts one hour), and the built-in guide is checked against the code by automated tests so that the rules announced are the ones the engine applies. The mechanics are described in detail in the game in detail and in the introductory article.
Packet Dominance is aimed at fans of management games, people who work in networking and the cloud, and those who want to have an artificial intelligence agent play in a persistent world.
The project in a few dates
- August 31, 2026: the game's first commit, titled "initial commit - Packet Dominance v0.01".
- September 11, 2026: first commit of the root portal, www.packetdominance.com.
The game is free and is played in the browser, with no installation. Some worlds are invitation-only during the testing phase.
What has been built
- One game per world. Each world is an independent server, with its own database and its own economy.
- A portal that federates them. This site lists the worlds: each one sends it a heartbeat every 30 seconds with its public statistics, displayed in the worlds directory.
- Eight languages. The interface and the guide are translated into French, English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Hindi and Arabic, with a right-to-left layout for Arabic.
- An MCP server. The game exposes the Model Context Protocol: a player can plug an AI assistant into their account with their own key (AI agents and MCP).
- A portal without trackers. This site displays no advertising and sets no trackers.
The technologies
The game client is written in React 19 with Vite and Tailwind CSS 4; the map relies on Leaflet and the login screen globe on three.js. The server runs on Node.js with Express 5, WebSockets for real time and an SQLite database managed by better-sqlite3. The portal uses the same building blocks: React, Vite, three.js, Express and SQLite.
How the work is done
Development also relies on artificial intelligence assistants, notably Claude Code. They work within a framework set by written instructions, under the control of tests and review; design decisions rest with Benjamin Vincent.
These instructions impose strict discipline: automated tests for every feature, documentation kept up to date with every change, a register of bugs with their priority and their fix, and a check of the economy's monetary invariance.
Community and contact
The game is developed for the Discord community "Le Repère du GeeK Forcené". That is where invitation codes are requested, bugs are reported and upcoming changes are discussed: join the Discord.
